The Worshipful Master’s main charity for 2016/17:
The Master's chosen charity for the year is the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, a part of Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The Evelina London Children’s Hospital is the second largest provider of children’s services in London, treating children of all ages, from babies in the womb through to young adulthood, with all kinds of health conditions. It is a leading hospital in the UK for paediatric heart services and a specialist in kidney transplants and dialysis, cleft lip surgery, metabolic conditions, allergy and neurology. Each year, the hospital treats 50,000 children and each day, 300 children pass through its doors. To cope with the growing number and intake of young patients, the hospital is expanding and putting in place a 10 bed intensive care and high dependency unit.
In 2014, the hospital was fortunate to raise £25,000 to purchase a specialised incubator. For the years 2015-2017, it has targeted 4 Baby Thermal (heated cot) Units, which is one step for a baby to normal life from an incubator.
The heated cot, which costs £12,000, is the specialist equipment that I would like to appeal to you to donate towards. As premature babies become more stable to control their temperature, they move from an incubator to a heated cot. The Baby Thermal Unit keeps the air of the cot warm and medical treatment can take place whilst the baby is in the cot and the baby will not need to be moved. The cot is also linked to a monitor system that alerts doctors when the baby needs immediate and urgent attention - Support Evelina

Metropolitan Masonic Charity- In 2015/16, The Master chose to support this London wide appeal with other Lodgeswhich raised £2 million to help London’s Air Ambulance secure a much needed second emergency medical helicopter.
London’s Air Ambulance delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people in London 24/7, using a helicopter by day and rapid response cars at night or in adverse weather conditions. In 2014 the London’s Air Ambulance helicopter was offline for maintenance for 55 days in total. The acquisition of a second helicopter will extend daylight flying hours in the summer months thereby helping London’s Air Ambulance to reach an estimated 400 more patients per year by aircraft. By having a helicopter available at all times, it will also give London greater resilience during major incidents. - London's Air Ambulance

The Centinery Charitable Fund
In 2021, Mandate Lodge will be celebrating its centenary and in recognition of this major milestone in our Lodge’s history, a charitable fund has been created so annual donations can be made in order that in 2021 Mandate Lodge can make a significant donation to a worthy cause. It is hoped that this will leave a lasting legacy in years to come.
